Renovated in 2002 and under new management, this stylish resort—formerly owned by entertainer and hotelier Merv Griffin—is a two-story white mansion resembling a Versailles palace. Set amid 14 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, the resort is a unique desert-oasis. The extensive spa is considered one of the world’s best, and pampering is plentiful. There is a steam room, two aqua-gyms, and two outdoor swimming pools. A resort fee includes local calls, daily newspaper, coffee in the rooms, and access to the fitness center. The resort is completely non-smoking.
